Welcome to JOSELUIS RUPÉREZ COLLECTION.

Jose Luis Rupérez (Madrid) became a collector around the mid 1980’s, after having designed posters for artists like Ray Charles, Joe Cocker and B.B. King for their Spanish tours.

That contact with graphic design took him to gather a first colectivo of posters and signs on modernism and Spanish “Deco” which were exhibited towards the end of the 90s in Madrid, Barcelona, and Palma de Mallorca under the titles: "España en fiestas” and "Mediterrani en Festes”.

Thanks to the patronage of CAM, between 2004 and 2006 he was the curator, along with José Piqueras, of the exhibit Grandes Maestros del Arte en el Cartel (Great Artists in posters), which toured the main museums of Catalunya, Valencia, Murcia and the Balearic islands with a near 200,000 people turn up.

The collection was later taken on by artists, and modern and contemporary arts movements, always using paper supporting material through their most “physical” techniques: sketching, engraving, lithography, serigraphy, linocut, woodcut, and lithographic offset.

For over decades, this Collection known as Joseluis Ruperez Collection has served as inspiration to create 35 exhibit stories, has toured more than 23 cities in countries like Spain, China, Portugal and Korea, and has had an audience of over 1.300,000 people.

Currently, and as a result of the collaboration agreement signed with the Meet Museum in Beijing, the collection has toured the cities of Beijing and soon in Shanghai with the exhibition “Keit Haring: Art for All”.
