DESCRIPCIÓN:
The poster for the film Turtle Diary dates from 1985 and was therefore created so-
metime between the publication of Endangered Species and Vanishing Animals.
Warhol based his representation of the green sea turtle on a black-and-white film still (color was
not yet customary for this type of photography). This is evident from the photographic depiction
of the turtle’s head and neck, which is visible beneath Warhol’s line drawing.
The artist’s use of color on this poster contrasts with that on his commissioned portraits, which,
having been based primarily on photographs, required a close resemblance to the model.
Warhol’s signature, added at printing, appears above the turtle’s flipper.
