The New York City Ballet did six
different performances between April and June
within the scope of the 1988 American Music
Festival. The poster is part of a series of
eight artists’ posters, designed by, among
others, Roy Lichtenstein, Bruce Nauman,
Helen Frankenthaler, and Francesco Cle-
mente. The cigarette manufacturer Phillip
Morris financed the painting.
