Haring had twenty thousand copies
of his first poster printed on his own initiative.
On June 2, 1982, he transported the stack of
paper in a handcart to what was the largest
demonstration to date against nuclear wea-
pons and the arm race, which took place in
New York. There were one million posters,
and Haring gave his posters away for free.
