In April 1986, Haring opened a retail
store not far from his studio, where, in addition
to posters he sold merchandise bearing his
own designs: “I discussed the Pop Shop many
times with Andy Warhol, and he was totally
supportive of my taking the plunge, and not
caring what people thought.”
