This work is an album by Ella Fiztgerald in the jazz genre, the
cover of which is a work by Henri Matisse. “Drawing of a woman’s
head” served as the cover of one of Ella’s songbooks, the one
she dedicated to the fabulous work of Harold Arlen. Matisse
sought to free colour from reference to objects, thus achieving its
maximum expressiveness. His work during this brief period is thus
characterised by confronting pure tones in order to emphasise the
planes.
