Haring spent three weeks in Milan,
where he painted all the works on exhibit.
Tony Shafrazi had arranged the meeting
with the Milan-based art dealer Salvatore
Ala, who made a name for himself in the
1970s by promoting Arte Povera. Haring
subsequently traveled to Venice to create an
installation for the 41st Biennale.
